Destination Wedding Venue – Casa Ybel Resort, Sanibel Island { Laura + David }

Sanibel Island destination wedding photography

Laura and David had their intimate wedding on Sanibel Island June 23 at a secluded beach. They were joined by their parents for this intimate destination wedding. After the ceremony they returned to the Thistle Lodge on Sanibel for a celebration dinner. Thistle Lodge is an award winning restaurant that has been on Sanibel Island for many years. Thistle Lodge is a part of the Casa Ybel Resort. This is a great venue for a destination wedding. In my twenty years as a Sanibel photographer, I have photographed many weddings here. Some of the beach weddings are intimate with just a bride and groom and maybe some friends. The Thistle Lodge Restaurant can accomodate weddings of over one hundred guests. With a wedding ceremony on the beach, guests will just walk less than a minute to be in the restaurant. Thistle Lodge has amazing landscaping and unique, colorful Florida plants and trees. The wedding guests can stay at the resort interval time share units. The wedding photography can start with pictures on the green lawn then a quick walk to the beach for the ceremony. After the ceremony we take some family photographs. While we do this, the guests will usually walk the beach looking for seashells. As the whole world knows, Sanibel Island is famous for shelling!

Patricia Slater, a Sanibel and Fort Myers area wedding officiant for over 30 years, performed the sunset ceremony. Patricia, a Sanibel Island resident, provided the flowers for this destination wedding. Patricia has been performing intimate wedding ceremonies on Sanibel Island and the Fort Myers area for over 30 years. Her services include providing the marriage license, working with the bride for salon appointments, choosing the wedding flowers, recommending and reserving hotel rooms, wedding celebration dinner reservations and any other wedding details that can use the experience, knowledge and 42 years as a Sanibel Island resident.

Tent weddings on this Gulf view lawn are the epitome of timeless elegance. Chicago couple, Shannon and Andrew, combined white and ivory with touches of silver and seafoam for a color palette that was simply stunning. Florida wedding planner, Courtney Gabelbauer of Fab Chic Weddings, pulled this breathtaking oceanfront event together with finesse. The floral chandeliers and white dance floor took this tented beach wedding over the top.

Tented Beach Wedding – Sanibel Island, FL { Jennifer + Fred }

Fred & Jennifer’s tented beach wedding at Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island was one for the ages! Hunter Ryan Photo really captured the spirit of these two and their fun-loving wedding guests. Some of our favorite features: the wine ceremony, the seashell escort cards, the suckling pig (Fred’s favorite, for sure!), the long dinner tables, Jennifer’s wardrobe change into a gold sequin designer gown and the photo booth shenanigans. This much fun couldn’t possibly have been contained indoors. A tent reception on our grassy lawn overlooking the beach was the perfect setting for such a perfect evening.

Sanibel Island Beach Wedding – Casa Ybel Resort { Emily + Randy }

Emily and Randy chose the Casa Ybel Resort for their destination wedding in October! Family and friends gathered from North Carolina and other nearby states for this marriage ceremony on the beach. The weather was cool with overcast clouds, but the happy wedding guests made their own sunshine for this Tuesday afternoon affair. We took some photos of the groom and his family before the ceremony. Then the bride was escorted to the beach wedding by her Dad in his USMC uniform. The marriage ceremony was performed by Dr. Dan Lamey. Emily burst into laughter as Dr. Dan wiped Randy’s forehead of the little bit of perspiration that formed. Just moments before, Randy kissed Emily’s hands as she arrived to the ceremony. In all my years photographing weddings, I saw this beautiful display of affection just a few times… The colors of the ceremony and bridal bouquet flowers were stunning against the cloudy backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico. After the ceremony we continued with family pictures.

Dinner at a Casa Ybel Wedding

After the family left for the Patio at the Thistle Lodge for dinner, I continued photos with Emily and Randy. It was amazing what they created in their photographs, Emily and Randy were perfect together! We then all met at the Patio as dinner was prepared by the wonderful and experienced Thistle Lodge Staff. The weather this day was so pleasant for an outside dinner at the Thistle Lodge. We made a cake cutting photo and my last photo of the evening was Emily and Randy making a ‘selfie’ with their camera. Shown here are some of my favorite photographs we created at this Casa Ybel wedding.
