We asked Jamie Cintron, owner of JLC Salon, to write a guest blog highlighting the ins and outs of wedding hair & makeup. Check out these fab tips from this featured pro!
Glam morning to ya, and happy New Year to all of our brides, clients, newly engaged couples, and everyone else in between! The team and I here at JLC Salon Spa Wedding sincerely hope you and your families have had a wonderful and magical holiday season. Some of you may have gotten engaged, some of you starting the wedding planning process and some are just awaiting the BIG day! So exciting!!! We are a full service salon specializing in wedding day beauty, and we have been in business for 13 years. We would love to work with all of you, but above all, no matter who you have as your H&M team, we wish you all a lifetime of happiness and love.

Well, as the New Year came to turn I have sort of started a wellness journey for myself, my husband Vic, and my two boys Greyson and Hunter Graham. Its mostly about eating healthy, because what you put in your body will radiate on the outside…obviously very important! There are a few little extras for me as well… exercising more and maybe a little less wine…lol, we’ll see how that last part goes…lol.
Anyway… I’d like to share some of the secrets of the trade with you all so you can be better prepared for your big day in regards to what to expect from your hair and make up team.
When you are ready to start the search for the perfect team to tend to a coif and airbrush your sun kissed skin to a flawless finish be sure to keep these few things in mind.
Hiring
Whether you are a destination bride or a local bride, it is important to do your due diligence and research your vendors. Reviews say it all! Professionalism and being prompt is key! Also, check out their galleries (this also comes in handy when scheduling your trial run).
Trial Runs
It is important to have a trial run so you and your stylist/artist can work together to create the perfect look. Be sure to bring in photos of your dress, and bring all hair accessories i.e. veils, hair pieces, and jewelry to your trial run. Some salons (like mine), will have accessories for you to purchase as well. Have a general idea of how you would like your hair and make up to look on your wedding day. It will help direct the trial and let the stylist/artist know which direction you are heading.

Timeline
A well planned timeline between you, H&M, and other vendors is crucial. Take the time to sit with each of them and find out how they would run their timeline in accordance with others.
Minimums
Most of us in the beauty world will have a “day of services” minimum if we are coming on location. Be sure to ask when you are booking. For example, Casa Ybel is not far from our salon so our day of minimum is $450 in services for us to come on location.

2019 Trends
Many of the styles trending during this wedding season are… soft romantic, beachy up-styles paired with a nude glossy lip and a dewy highlighted complexion. Whimsical and boho looks with real floral crowns, paired with a natural eye and a matte lip are very flattering as well. And the classic loose finger wave, red lip and winged liner is no doubt a show stopper. All three of these trending looks showcase famously day of and look phenomenal in photos.
A Few Tips & Tricks
Here are a few things you can do to ensure you are wedding day ready…
- Have a facial, a brow and lip wax, and your hair colored and trimmed two weeks prior to your wedding day.
- Be sure to follow your skin care regime, and apply sunblock daily…no bride wants to be a lobster!
- Hydration is key for many reasons…keep chapstick everywhere and drink tons of water.
Well, I’m off to chase my littles, thank you for taking the time to hang with me. We look forward to working with many of you this year…give us a shout!.
