Over the top, elegant, lavish, luxe – these are some of the words used to describe the wedding she designed for Christiane and Bill’s intimate wedding and dinner party style reception in the Waterfront Room at Casa Ybel Resort. Sanibel Island Beach Wedding – Casa Ybel Resort { Emily + Randy }

Emily and Randy chose the Casa Ybel Resort for their destination wedding in October! Family and friends gathered from North Carolina and other nearby states for this marriage ceremony on the beach. The weather was cool with overcast clouds, but the happy wedding guests made their own sunshine for this Tuesday afternoon affair. We took some photos of the groom and his family before the ceremony. Then the bride was escorted to the beach wedding by her Dad in his USMC uniform. The marriage ceremony was performed by Dr. Dan Lamey. Emily burst into laughter as Dr. Dan wiped Randy’s forehead of the little bit of perspiration that formed. Just moments before, Randy kissed Emily’s hands as she arrived to the ceremony. In all my years photographing weddings, I saw this beautiful display of affection just a few times… The colors of the ceremony and bridal bouquet flowers were stunning against the cloudy backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico. After the ceremony we continued with family pictures.

Dinner at a Casa Ybel Wedding

After the family left for the Patio at the Thistle Lodge for dinner, I continued photos with Emily and Randy. It was amazing what they created in their photographs, Emily and Randy were perfect together! We then all met at the Patio as dinner was prepared by the wonderful and experienced Thistle Lodge Staff. The weather this day was so pleasant for an outside dinner at the Thistle Lodge. We made a cake cutting photo and my last photo of the evening was Emily and Randy making a ‘selfie’ with their camera. Shown here are some of my favorite photographs we created at this Casa Ybel wedding.

Intimate Island Wedding – Casa Ybel Resort, Sanibel Island { Julie + Kyle }

They arrived from PA with family and friends for their beach wedding on 1-5-15. It was a late afternoon wedding at the Casa Ybel Resort. We started with photos of Kyle and his family. Kyle and Julie did not want to see each other before the ceremony, so Kyle went into the Thistle Lodge Restaurant to wait for the ceremony. When Julie arrived with their two children, we created some additional images. Gianna was a joy to photograph with her Mom! We wanted to start their Sanibel Island beach wedding on time, so off to the beach for a 4:30pm ceremony. Patricia Slater of Weddings by the Sea was the officiate and wedding planner. The guests gathered and found their seats on the beach-just 50 feet from the Gulf of Mexico. The day was warm with overcast skies. During the last hour of daylight the warm color of light came through the clouds which made for great photographs. Little Kinsley was carried to the ceremony by Kyle’s brother. So then Gianna walked down the aisle with the rings, followed by her Mom who was escorted by her Dad. The beach wedding included a sand ceremony where the bridal family placed sand into a vase. The couple were pronounced ‘MARRIED’! by Patricia Slater and walked back down the aisle. They hugged friends and family and we then took off for some green landscape photos. With the gray overcast, I enjoyed making a few of the photographs in black & white, the rich contrast was great for this Sanibel Island beach wedding.

Julie and Kyle were fun to photograph with great energy and patience during their wedding photo session. After the sunset photographs, the couple walked to the Gazebo Room of the Thistle Lodge Restaurant where they enjoyed a celebration dinner and wedding cake with their friends and family. They were served by the great staff at Thistle Lodge Restaurant. For over twenty years I have photographed intimate and destination weddings on Sanibel Island. Shown here are some of my favorite photographs we captured at their Sanibel Island beach wedding.

Sanibel Island, FL – Beach Brunch Wedding {Lauren + John}

Summer in Florida is the perfect season for a beach brunch wedding. Temperatures tend to be cooler in the morning and the chance of showers is lower, too. Virginia couple, Lauren & John, took advantage of the beautiful morning weather and had their Sanibel Island destination brunch wedding at Casa Ybel Resort. This wedding at Casa Ybel Resort has become one of my favorites. I absolutely love it when brides hire me for 8+ hours on their wedding day. It really gives me the chance to capture all the details without being rushed, bringing out even more creativity; I get to know the bridesmaids & become friends with them, helping them to be more relaxed in front of my camera; same with the bride & groom…though Susan & Ferdinand nailed it ALL DAY! Also having an INCREDIBLE sunset on the West Coast of Florida in beautiful Sanibel Island, makes it all the better! And some gorgeous bouquets too! And palm trees to hang the wedding dress on…

Susan & Ferdinand, their bridal party as well as 90% of their guests flew out from Germany for this Florida destination wedding. I love how Ferdinand’s cuff links were American flags!

Get ready for some gorgeousness…
