Timothy and Kelly had an intimate Sanibel wedding Ceremony at Casa Ybel resort. This is their second marriage, so they wanted to keep the focus on the two of them and their 5 children and very special guests. By all accounts the wedding was a big hit! We received this awesome message shortly after the wedding:

“I just wanted to leave you a quick message letting you know how wonderful and thorough Nick was for our wedding shoot! Intimate Weddings

Timothy and kelly chose to go for a small wedding and Intimate weddings are becoming more and more popular. I think many of our couples are looking to take the stress out of a huge wedding. Intimate weddings are a great way to go for destination Brides. In the right situation, they check all the boxes: small, convenient, intimate and quite importantly, very cost effective:) You will often find that vendors and resorts will have special packaging and pricing for intimate weddings. There is normally a limit to how many people constitute the making of an intimate package. This number varies from vendor to vendor. For us it is twelve people but we are somewhat flexible depending on the day of the wedding. Vendors will also provide packages for intimate weddings. We can offer additional services like video, profesional audio and we also have an officiant on staff! Other vendors/resorts may bundle in things like bouquets or seating or maybe a bottle of champers or two. It’s worth checking.

Wedding Photos of Laura and Eric’s destination wedding

This was a Saturday afternoon intimate wedding in early October. Laura and Eric arrived to Sanibel Island with their family and a few friends from the northeast. I met Laura in the nicely appointed condominium at Casa Ybel for some getting ready wedding photos. I then met Eric outside on the nicely landscaped sidewalk at Casa Ybel Resort. I took some family photos of Eric and his parents, along with wedding photos of the flower girls who were Eric’s nieces. Eric then walked to the ceremony site with the ceremony official, Reverend Joanna Salerno. Laura then came out for some green background photos with her family. Tori, the wedding director at Casa Ybel then brought Laura and her family to the beach in the golf cart. The ceremony started perfectly on time with blue skies and beautiful white clouds that were low on the horizon. After the ceremony some rain fell from a couple of gray clouds. We ran quickly for cover. Just moments later the clouds disappeared and the sun came through the white clouds. I photographed the families together then the bride and groom alone as they walked along the beach.

I have created wedding photos at the Casa Ybel Resort for over twenty years. So I had a sense that as the sun set some beautiful colors were going to reflect off the clouds, and it did! So a few more minutes of sunset wedding photos and the bride and groom were swept away in the wedding golf cart by Jeremy. They arrived to the Thistle Lodge restaurant with plenty of time to enjoy hors d’oeuvre and drinks with their guests. Before dinner, we captured a picture of Laura and Eric cutting their wedding cake. Then some congratulatory wedding toasts were shared by the guests as the first course was being served. Shown here are some of my favorite wedding photos of Laura and Eric’s wedding.

David’s family has been vacationing on Sanibel Island for decades. His own sister was married at Casa Ybel Resort ten years ago. Now, with his wife Courtney and their daughter Lana, the tradition continues. The location may have been the same, but the day was definitely their own. With a ceremony on the beach, coordinated and designed by the ever-talented Janet Courtney of Beach Weddings Made Simple, cocktail hour on the Patio and dinner and dancing in the Waterfront Room, Courtney and David got the full Sanibel experience.

Laura and David had their intimate wedding on Sanibel Island June 23 at a secluded beach. They were joined by their parents for this intimate destination wedding. After the ceremony they returned to the Thistle Lodge on Sanibel for a celebration dinner. Thistle Lodge is an award winning restaurant that has been on Sanibel Island for many years. Thistle Lodge is a part of the Casa Ybel Resort. This is a great venue for a destination wedding. In my twenty years as a Sanibel photographer, I have photographed many weddings here. Some of the beach weddings are intimate with just a bride and groom and maybe some friends. The Thistle Lodge Restaurant can accomodate weddings of over one hundred guests. With a wedding ceremony on the beach, guests will just walk less than a minute to be in the restaurant. Thistle Lodge has amazing landscaping and unique, colorful Florida plants and trees. The wedding guests can stay at the resort interval time share units. The wedding photography can start with pictures on the green lawn then a quick walk to the beach for the ceremony. After the ceremony we take some family photographs. While we do this, the guests will usually walk the beach looking for seashells. As the whole world knows, Sanibel Island is famous for shelling!

Patricia, a Sanibel Island resident, provided the flowers for this destination wedding. Patricia has been performing intimate wedding ceremonies on Sanibel Island and the Fort Myers area for over 30 years. Her services include providing the marriage license, working with the bride for salon appointments, choosing the wedding flowers, recommending and reserving hotel rooms, wedding celebration dinner reservations and any other wedding details that can use the experience, knowledge and 42 years as a Sanibel Island resident.
