The Waterfront Room at Casa Ybel Resort’s Thistle Lodge is a very popular wedding reception venue on Sanibel Island. But it’s also a popular site for corporate cocktail parties and late night wedding after parties! We thought we’d break up all the wedding posts with photos from a glamorous cocktail party we hosted for the Wedding Network USA last summer. This spectacular event has served as inspiration to many couples planning an after party for their Sanibel Island wedding.

A Classic Beach Wedding at Casa Ybel Resort in Sanibel Island, Florida

Melissa Babins (28 and a teacher) and Evan Flechsig (27 and a programmer) had their wedding in the same place they got engaged: Sanibel Island, Florida. The place is special to them because they have often visited the island’s wildlife refuge together. Because Evan proposed to Melissa on the beach at sunset, it was only fitting that their ceremony also have beautiful water views. The couple was married on the waterfront lawn at the Casa Ybel Resort. To let the venue’s beautiful surroundings speak for itself, Melissa and Evan decorated the ceremony area simply with a draped white wedding arch covered in black, white and gold streamers. They hung sentimental photos from the chairs on the ceremony aisle. At the following reception indoors, Melissa and Evan decorated the dining tables with simple white floral centerpieces and floating candles in ornate silver holders. Instead of having a traditional guest book, the couple invited their guests to sign a dry-erase board and add word magnets to the board as a fun touch.
