Anne and Art marry at Casa Ybel Resort
They arrived from Canada with their three children for their intimate wedding at Casa Ybel Resort. I arrived a few hours before sunset on this warm day in May. We started with the ‘first look’ where Art was outside on the sidewalk with his back turned. Anne then walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Art saw Ann for the first time in her wedding gown. We quickly took photographs on the Casa Ybel Resort property before the typical afternoon rains rolled through. The children, Scott, Carrie and Olivia enjoyed the photo session and created their own fun and joyful ideas for some of the photographs
Soon the rain began so we all went inside and waited for the thunderstorm to pass. The ceremony started on the lanai of the nicely appointed Casa Ybel condominium unit that overlooks the ocean. Rev Dr. Rankin McGougan was the ceremony official. A sand ceremony was completed with the children participating. Just around the time Art and Anne were pronounced husband and wife, the rains stopped and beautiful light came through the rains clouds. We hurried to the beach to catch the special light minutes before sunset.
Intimate wedding at Casa Ybel
For over twenty years I have photographed intimate weddings at Casa Ybel Resort. The property has beautiful lush, green landscaping that makes a great backdrop for wedding photography. When it rains at Casa Ybel Resort, the light becomes very special. The saturation of the mature landscaping is rich and the bright sun of a usual day does not affect people’s eyes, nor create harsh shadows. So this was one of those days to create using this special light. After the ceremony we first took pictures on the green lawn of the Casa Ybel Resort then continued on to the beach. The beach was deserted after the thunderstorm. The sand was fresh from the ocean waves without any footprints. We had the seashore all to ourselves as we continued photography of this intimate wedding at Casa Ybel. Sunset happened beautifully with the clouds in the south reflecting great colors from the west. Anne and Art and the children then walked to the Thistle Lodge restaurant where they enjoyed a celebration dinner. Shown here are some of my favorite images we captured at this intimate wedding at Casa Ybel Resort. Read more about author/photographer.
